Dr Rachel Boschen-Rose

Dr Rachel Boschen-Rose

I lead and facilitate research, projects, and contracts across a range of marine ecology and Blue Economy topics, collaborating with a wide variety of science, policy, and industry partners.

I am always keen to work with new people to explore innovative concepts, research directions, and project ideas!

I am currently looking for new opportunities including Contract or Remote work.

  • I explore research questions that increase our knowledge of marine environments and address ways in which maritime activities can minimise environmental impacts, drive technological innovation, inform policy and regulatory development, and maximise synergies amongst Blue Economy sectors.
  • I have a keen interest in deep-sea ecology, particularly the benthic ecology of seamounts and hydrothermally active habitats. My ecology research includes the environmental drivers of biological community structure, functional ecology, and population connectivity.
  • I conduct research and contracts on the environmental, technological, and policy aspects of the deep-sea mining sector through multiple projects working with scientists, engineers, and regulators. My research and contracts in this area include environmental impact assessment, regional environmental assessment, and cumulative impact assessment.
  • I also research and undertake contracts on broader Blue Economy topics, synthesising information for intergovernmental organisations, leading responses to draft policy and government inquiries, and engaging with industry.
